Marking our 100 years of service, REALTORS® have worked through their industry philanthropic organization – the REALTOR® Foundation – to make a major impact on homelessness in central Indiana. In 2011, REALTORS® raised $500,000 to lift up an emerging neighborhood in a project called Building a Living Legacy.

MIBOR has worked in partnership with the John H. Boner Community Center, Indy-east Asset Development Corp, and other partners for more than three years to renovate and/or build 32 homes, which (the number selected to represent 32 NFL cities) will house 32 families coming out of, or on the verge of, homelessness.

Each family selected to be part of the Building a Living Legacy effort is on the path to home stability. They have come from various backgrounds, but they have acknowledged the need for professional, supportive assistance to stay housed and develop their own plan for homeownership. As each family journeys toward permanent housing, these 32 homes will each remain for a new family to occupy and start their journey.

YOU can help us fulfill the dream. Together, we can make 2012 the year the Super Bowl came to Indianapolis, the year MIBOR celebrated its 100th anniversary, and the year families on the Near Eastside found a place to call home.
